About Everett Homes For Sale

Just 45 minutes outside of Seattle but with a strong local economy, this city is growing and the real estate market here is changing rapidly. You'll find plenty of new construction in Everett right now. From planned communities surrounding natural lakes, golf courses, or lively condo developments next to one of the biggest marinas on the entire west coast. The new homes, town houses and condos in Everett deliver access to the west coast lifestyle as surely as they represent a good investment in a maturing town.

Everett Communities

There are 19 distinct residential neighborhoods in Everett. Read more about them in our overview of the homes and real estate in Everett communities.

Everett Waterfront Homes

With so many naturally occuring sources of water here, if you crave waterfront property, Everett has it. Right on the shores of Possession Sound and hugged by the Snohomish River, oceanviews and waterfront property are plentiful.

The city's great natural location and deep-water port have always made Everett an attractive and prosperous place to live. In 2006, the city undertook a massive waterfront redevelopment project and began to turn the north end of the Port of Everett waterfront into a vibrant seaside community with new condo developments, an esplanade, retail shops and maritime businesses. The first phase of this project includes the Port Gardner Wharf, a massive mixed use development that includes waterfront homes, boutiques, parks, and an expanded marina.

Blessed by the abundance of the Pacific Northwest and Puget Sound, Everett has access to some of the best salmon and steelhead fishing in the world. Whale watching, kayaking, hiking. crabbing, boating and sailing are perennially popular activities in Everett along with oceanside walks and great waterfront restaurants.

Everett Craftsman Homes & American Architecture

Established prior to the turn of the last century, Everett has a nice old downtown and a number of historic homes in mature neighborhoods. Approximately 20% of all Everett homes were built in the first half of the 20th century. You'll find plenty of examples of uniquely American architectural styles here including American Craftsman homes, California bungalows, American foursquare homes and Colonial Revial homes with fine detailing and character. You'll also find that a number of the newer homes and subdivisions in Everett mirror these traditional styles.

Other architectural styles in the area include mid-century modern, 60s ramblers and 70s and 80s split entry homes.

Everett Economy & Employment

Graced by a natural deep water port and access to international markets, the city of Everett has always been the economic hub of Snohomish County. Everett is the county seat and the current economy is strong with positive job growth. Considered one of the core cities in the Seattle-Tacoma-Olympia CMSA, Everett has a population over 100,000 and is growing fast.

A former mill-town that has now developed significant technology and aerospace industries, Everett is undergoing some fundamental changes and prospects for the future are extremely bright. Major Everett employers include:

  • Boeing
  • Verizon
  • Intermec
  • Kimberly-Clark
  • Fluke Corporation
  • the US Navy and Coast Guard

Naval Station Everett is an important part of the local economy. Located on the southernmost tip of the Everett Marina, NVSTA is one of the Navy's most modern facilities and currently employs approximately 6,000 Navy and Coast Guard personnel.

Everett Transportation & Commute to Seattle

Everett is just 25 miles north of Seattle with the I-5 providing the main north-south route.  Commuters also travel by commuter rail, Amtrack and express bus. The Snohomish County Airport is located in Everett and the Washington State Ferries which travel between Mukilteo, Edmonds and Seattle are well used by Everett residents. Everett Transit, Community Transit and Sound Transit operate extensive bus routes within the city.

Everett Schools

Everett's K to 12 students are served by The Everett School District and Mukilteo School District. Post Secondary institutions in the area include Everett Community College, a two year associate degree-granting college.

Recreation & Land in Everett

There are mountains in every direction you look in Everett. Views here that arent framed by the ocean are decorated by the Cascades, the Olympic mountains, Mount Rainer and Mount Baker. Rock climbing, mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding and hiking are natural activities here. Marine recreation are equally popular and residents can take ferries to jetty island or explore the many smaller islands in Possession Sound. Hat Island, the Whidbey Islands and the San Juan islands are all visible from the Everett Waterfront. The area has plenty of parks, wildlands, wetlands, lakes, rivers and forests for hardy explorers and leisure hounds.
